‘BloYaTop’ fans are used to the “new” band name ‘Baby Killed the Roses’ (BKTR). For their self-titled album, the men collaborated with Mario Goossens (Triggerfinger). They returned to the roots of rock, including analogue recordings.
You can already feel the energy on the opening track. The drumming is dynamic, the guitar riffs are delightful, there is pleasantly plentiful bass. All of it is uplifting, the lyrics are not too complicated. Although the songs differ enough from each other, the build-up is roughly according to “the same recipe”. With unlimited energy as the main ingredient. Except for one somewhat dull fade out, all songs end (very) well. In ‘Mercy’, among others, you feel where the interaction with the audience will happen. Several songs have lovely details and/or twists. One of the most enjoyable twists is in ‘Love Many Trust Few’. The ten energetic songs are made to be played live. The release show is Friday 1 March at the Bosuil in Weert, the roof will surely be blown off!

De fans van ‘BloYaTop’ zijn allang gewend aan de “nieuwe” bandnaam ‘Baby Killed the Roses’ (BKTR). Voor hun gelijknamige album werkten de mannen samen met Mario Goossens (Triggerfinger). Ze keerden terug naar de roots van de rock, inclusief analoge opnames.
Al bij het openingsnummer voel je de energie. Het drumwerk is dynamisch, de gitaarriffs zijn heerlijk, er is aangenaam veel bas. Het geheel is opzwepend, de teksten zijn niet al te ingewikkeld. Hoewel de nummers genoeg van elkaar verschillen, is de opbouw ongeveer volgens “hetzelfde recept”. Met als hoofdingrediënt tomeloze energie. Op één wat saaie fade out na, eindigen alle nummers (zeer) goed. Je voelt in onder andere ‘Mercy’ waar de interactie met het publiek gaat komen. Diverse nummers hebben leuke details en/of wendingen. Één van de leukste wendingen zit in ‘Love Many Trust Few’. De tien energieke nummers zijn gemaakt om live te spelen. Vrijdag 1 maart is de release show in de Bosuil te Weert, het dak gaat er vast af!
