Jargon -The Fading Thought

The Fading Thought’ opent met het instrumentale ‘The Film’.

Zo ook ‘Time Is Running Out’.
Het meest emotionele nummer is wellicht ‘How Can I?’

The Last Temptation’ is ook gevuld met bezieling.

Jargon – The Fading Thought

Jargon is the frontman of the Greek band Verbal Delirium. This art rock band has been around for 15 years. At live performances you feel Jargon’s passion better than on their CD’s. ‘The Fading Thought‘ is Jargon’s first solo album. I hope that his informing will be clearly reflected on this CD. ‘The Fading Thought‘ opens with the instrumental ‘The Film‘. The soft and tender piano tones are played by Jargon. The gloomy sounds of string instruments is added, it touches me. Slowly the music becomes a little faster and lighter, but the emotion remains. The change back to subdued is gracious. The string instruments can sometimes be heard very subtly in the background. At other times they come more to the fore, everything is in complete harmony. The end is beautifully minimalistic.
Speed and volume are almost immediately higher in ‘In Search Of The Invisible Thin Line‘, but the classic elements remain. Jargon’s voice fits the music well. The whole thing is easy to listen to, yet everything is fantastically detailed. The build-up to the end has a nice touch of drama. Nonstop this turns into the instrumental ‘Dance Of The Framed Words‘. This also contains a well dosed piece of drama.
The first sentences of Jargon in ‘The Fading Thought‘ are sung fragile. When he sings a little later with more volume, he continues to convince. The classical influences are gone for a while, but the music is still intriguing. The sound of the keyboard is nicely distributed over the headphones. Even with only his voice and quiet piano playing, Jargon completely captures my attention.

Jargon wrote all the lyrics and music. But Nikitas Kissonas composed and arranged the music for the string quartet. In the instrumental ‘Light‘ they show these men are masters in “less is more”.
Every song is played and sung with passion. So is ‘Time Is Running Out‘.
Perhaps the most emotional song is ‘How Can I?‘ This song is about how someone handles a depression, without the darkness getting a grip on him.
The first sentences are almost whispered and they sound distorted. Lupe’s voice is a nice addition. Suddenly the pace of singing and music goes up. The electronic aspect of the keys now sounds together with slightly rocking elements. The mysterious atmosphere remains, it fits the confusion. There are quite a few changes in vocals and music, sometimes the atmosphere is almost bizarre. That only makes it even more fascinating. In the end, the battle for a ‘normal’ life is lost. The hectic build-up to the end is well chosen.

The Last Temptation‘ is also filled with inspiration. Vocals and music remain a constant unity. All songs are beautifully structured. That’s why we arrived far too fast at the last song ‘Window To The World‘. Here rocking parts sometimes suddenly alternate with small, classical pieces.
These quietly sung phrases about “mother” touch me.
The slow built up change to rock interwoven with the classic that follows is sublime chosen. Now there’s so much unrest in singing the music that it feels like despair. This unexpected climax is fantastic, slowly the panic quenches. Then it’s quiet… I’ll let this silence sink in on me.
Although the sound quality could have been slightly better, the pure sound is certainly good. The balance between keys and strings is perfect. It may be clear that the passionate Jargon has made a very good debut album.
