German art/hard rock Polis is influenced by such band as Uriah Heep and Epitaph. The live album ‘Unterwegs I’ was recorded at two different concerts. ‘Tropfen’ has pleasant, extended instrumental pieces. The sound is a little too dull, but well spread over the headset. Both the minimalist parts, and the tempo and volume changes are well sung and played. Especially in ‘Gedanken’, the harmony vocals are beautiful. ‘Die Einsamkeit’ has never appeared on CD before, but immediately captivates. The new ‘Das Erste Leuchtfeuer’ makes a weaker impression. The beautiful, sensitive ‘Eine Liebe, Tausend Leben’ all the more. The live version of ‘Danke’ (with gorgeously Hammond playing) is more atmospheric than the studio recording. The fantastic epic ‘Sag Mir’ is surprisingly constructed, the audience noticing their passion in vocals and music. ‘Blumenkraft’ has several unexpected twists, such as a cappella vocals. You don’t hear an encore, which is why the album ends slightly unexpectedly. Hopefully Polis will come to the Netherlands soon, because played live the songs come into their own even better.

De Duitse art/hardrock Polis is beïnvloed door bijvoorbeeld Uriah Heep en Epitaph. Het live album ‘Unterwegs I’ is opgenomen tijdens twee verschillende concerten. ‘Tropfen’ heeft aangename, uitgebreide instrumentale stukken. Het geluid is iets te dof, maar wel goed verdeeld over de headset. Zowel de minimalistische delen, als de tempo-en volumewisselingen zijn prima gezongen en gespeeld. Vooral in ‘Gedanken’ is de samenzang mooi. ’Die Einsamkeit’ verscheen nooit eerder op cd, maar boeit meteen. Het nieuwe ‘Das Erste Leuchtfeuer’ maakt minder indruk. Het prachtige, gevoelige ‘Eine Liebe, Tausend Leben’ des te meer. De live versie van ‘Danke’ (met gaaf Hammond spel) is sfeervoller dan de studio opname.
De fantastische epic ‘Sag Mir’ is verrassend opgebouwd, het publiek merkt hun passie in zang en muziek. ‘Blumenkraft’ heeft diverse onverwachte wendingen, zoals a capella zang. Je hoort geen toegift, daarom eindigt de cd iets onverwacht.
