‘The Lightmaker’ is the new concept album by prog band ‘Nine Skies’.
A man (Rudy) is living his 1001st and therefore his last life. He describes the
various characters of the incarnations. The various guest vocalists (including Kristoffer Gildenlöw), clarify these characters. Certain parts of the text narrated, or whispered. There are nice changes in tempo and/or volume, some of them are gradual. Acoustic parts are interspersed with rocking elements and/or chaotic pieces. The guitar playing is regularly compelling. Spherical or slightly classical pieces are also added. ‘The Lightmaker’ is a complex album with many ’twists and turns’. Due to its concept and composition, it might be less accessible to the general public. But prog rock fans will also appreciate this album by Nine Skies. It was dedicated to ‘Eric Bouillette’, how proud he would have been, and rightly so!

Nine Skies – The Lightmaker
‘The Lightmaker’ is het nieuwe concept album van de progband ‘Nine Skies’.
Een man (Rudy) leeft zijn 1001e en daarmee zijn laatste leven. Hij beschrijft de verschillende personages van de incarnaties. De verschillende gast vocalisten (waaronder Kristoffer Gildenlöw), verduidelijken deze personages. Bepaalde delen van de tekst verteld, of gefluisterd. Er zijn mooie veranderingen in tempo en/of volume, sommige verlopen geleidelijk. Akoestische delen worden afgewisseld met rockende elementen en/of chaotische stukken. Het gitaarspel is regelmatig meeslepend. Daarnaast zijn er ook sferische of licht klassieke stukken toegevoegd. ‘The Lightmaker’ is een complex album met veel ‘twists and turns’. Door het concept en de opbouw, is het misschien wat minder toegankelijk voor het grote publiek. Maar de prog rock liefhebber zal ook dit album van Nine Skies waarderen. Het werd opgedragen aan ‘Eric Bouillette’, wat zou hij trots geweest zijn, en terecht!
