Multi-instrumentalist Sébastien Chabot is the guitarist and singer of French power metal band Galderia and bassist/composer for Kingcrown. His brand new solo project is called Aedan Sky. The debut album, The Universal Realm, features melodic power metal. This metal opera is about a cosmic journey to spiritual awakening and universal consciousness. The instrumental opening is calm, then the metal kicks in. This is interspersed with some quieter parts/classical elements. The contrast in volume between these is fairly small. Both instrumentally and vocally, the tempo is sometimes extremely high. Three lead singers perform the main characters: Sky, Aedan and Sky’s Soul. Their voices differ, but it can still be difficult to tell who is singing what. When the vocals “clash”, it is not easy to understand everything. But the blend of the voices is wonderful.For a metal opera, the sound is not full/rich enough. Other than that, there are mainly positives, including the guitar playing. The atmosphere on “The Universal Realm” matches the lyrics and the rousing music.

Het debuutalbum ‘The Universal Realm’ bevat melodieuze powermetal. Deze metal opera gaat over een kosmische reis naar spiritueel ontwaken en universeel bewustzijn. De instrumentale opening is kalm, daarna komt de metal erbij. Dit wordt afgewisseld met enkele rustigere delen/ klassieke elementen. Het contrast in volume hiertussen is vrij klein . Zowel instrumentaal als vocaal ligt het tempo soms mega hoog. Drie leadzangers vertolken de rollen van de hoofdpersonen: Sky, Aedan en Sky’s Soul. Hun stemmen verschillen, maar toch is het soms even “zoeken” om te weten wie wat zingt. Als de zang tegen elkaar in gaat, valt het niet mee om alles te verstaan. Maar de stemmen vormen een prima blend, Voor een metal opera is het geluid niet vol/rijk genoeg. Daarnaast zijn er vooral pluspunten, onder andere voor het gitaarspel. De sfeer op ‘The Universal Realm’ past bij de tekst en bij de opzwepende muziek.
