‘Ice And Death’ is Reinforcer’s second album. These Germans play melodic power metal. The historical lyrics deal with topics such as the Black Death, witch hunts, and the Pied Piper of Hamelin. Logan Lexi sings the lyrics beautifully and powerfully. Some of the lines are stacked in a catchy way, inviting you to sing/roar along. The two guitarists play wonderful riffs and solo’s, and the bass is pleasantly present. The strings regularly sound heavy. The drumming is catchy, but the drumheads seem to be quite tightly stretched. ‘Ice And Death’ is about the Norse legend of Ymir, a giant born of ice and chaos.
The difference between the nine songs is not very big, but each song has plenty of tempo and volume changes. Occasionally, there is a short, slightly classical-oriented piece woven in. The touch of sampling in some of the intros fits the atmosphere and the lyrics, but could also have been present during the songs. Vocally, this rousing album is rock solid, and the balance between rhythm and melody is very good.

‘Ice And Death’ is het tweede album van Reinforcer, deze Duitsers maken melodische power metal. De historische teksten gaan onder ander over de pest, de heksenvervolging, en de rattenvanger van Hamelen. Logan Lexi zingt de teksten mooi en krachtig. Enkele zinnen zijn op een pakkende manier gestapeld, dit nodigt uit om mee te zingen/brullen. De twee gitaristen laten gaaf gitaarspel horen, de bas is aangenaam aanwezig. Regelmatig klinken de snaren lekker zwaar. Het drumspel is pakkend, maar de drumvellen lijken vrij strak gespannen. ‘Ice And Death’ gaat over de Noorse legende van Ymir, deze reus is geboren uit ijs en chaos.
Het verschil tussen de negen nummers is niet heel groot maar ieder nummer heeft ruim voldoende tempo-en volumewisselingen. Af en toe is er een kort, licht klassieke georiënteerd stukje in verweven. Het vleugje sampling bij enkele intro’s past bij de sfeer en de tekst, maar had ook tijdens de nummers aanwezig mogen zijn. Vocaal staat dit opzwepende album als een huis, bovendien is de balans tussen ritme en melodie zeer goed.
