Apogee is a German two-man formation. The new ‘Through the Gate’ is even more diverse than its previous albums. The tracks contain a mix of styles, such as classical, folk-heavy rock and jazz. There are also unusual twists, rhythms and details. At times, the tempo is quite fast. You sometimes need the spherical and\/or minimalist pieces. In several songs, some elements are repeated, this provides accessibility at certain moments. Yet the overall result is occasionally on the edge of either too much or not too much.
Singer\/multi-instrumentalist Arne Sch\u00e4fer played everything except drums\/percussion. This was done by Ebi Graef. In parts of the drumming, you can hear resonance and\/or pitch differences. Other parts are tight, sometimes sounding a bit too chilly. Among other things, you hear many different keyboard instruments, with all its (retro) facets. These 6 songs (including 4 epics) are meant for the lover of complex prog rock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
