‘Here to Stay’ is the new album by multi-instrumentalist Ron Coolen. The 13 tracks are full of delicious and very varied guitar playing, frequently you can hear several guitars at once. This comes from Ron, and from seven guest guitarists who play the wonderful solos. Ron plays the other instruments, his dynamic drumming positively stands out. The ballad ‘Jaded Eyes’ has a surprising start. The rough edge on Keith St John’s voice comes out nicely again. The power vocals (in several layers) and high-pitched vocals are excellent. The tracks are well constructed, although you might have to get used to the transitions in the very short and unusual title track. The intros as well as the outros are good, plus there are several surprising sound effects and\/or details. The accessible tracks range from “old school” hard rock to metal, and invite you to turn up the volume nice and far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
