Guitarist Brian Setzer keeps rockabilly and swing alive. In his long career, he sold millions of records and won several awards. ‘The Devil Always Collects’ is his new album, which features 11 songs. These invite you to sing along, but the high (rousing) tempo makes this far from easy. The backing vocals are sometimes predictable, but still pleasantly added. Of course, there is a lot of good and varied guitar playing to be heard. The structure of the tracks is largely verse\/chorus, yet there are plenty of lovely details and\/or surprises. ‘She’s Got A Lotta\u2026Soul!’ is a bit “sweeter” at first, but guitar playing provides some rock. ‘Psycho Suzie’ is a little less surprising in terms of structure, but it is uplifting. The quieter ‘One Particular Chick’ ends very lovely. ‘The Devil Always Collects’ has everything you expect from a rock(abilly) album.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
