‘Unchained’ is the seventh album by The BluesBones (Belgium). During a live studio setting, the instruments were captured in one take, well done! The balance between vocals and music is fine. The relationship between the instruments themselves, and the balance on the headphones is good. Nico De Cock sings parts of the lyrics, other parts are narrative. His pronunciation is clear, he uses the right emotion throughout. Nico performs ‘I Cry’ very intensely, you feel the emotion in the music too. No wonder, as this ballad is dedicated to their departed drummer Koen Mertens. There are two versions on the CD, both are beautiful. Even the more conservative songs (like ‘Moving On’) are fine. ‘Talking To The Lord’ and ‘The Road Ahead’ have a bit more pace. But overall, ‘Unchained’ is a fairly quiet album, which you should actually enjoy in peace. The fantastic sound quality does everything justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
