D-Rosas is a project of guitarist\/composer Gesuino Derosas. He played in the rock band Terra Nova, with which he toured Japan. He also plays in Van Hagar, a Van Halen tribute band. Greedy (I Can Feel It) is the debut EP; it was self-released. John ‘Jaycee’ Cuijpers is the vocalist, he is known from Praying Mantis and Ayreon, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The album opens with the title track, which immediately sounds wonderful. This is not only because of the guitar playing, but also because of the rhythm section. A little later, John’s vocals are added. This opening track is perhaps a little quieter than expected. But this is definitely well-constructed rock, as there are nice details in vocals and music. The sound quality makes it all come together well. So does the guitar solo, and the solo vocals. These ingredients ensure that the song soon sticks pleasantly in your head.
‘Losing You’ is rousing, again there are nice details in the music. At the start of ‘Dying World’ hear the piano sounds, the music is still a bit calmer here. But soon becomes a bit heavier. There is a nice interplay between lighter and heavier pieces. John adapts his vocals perfectly to this, so vocals and music remain in constant balance. The build-up makes it great to roar along with the CD, although hardly anyone will be able to sing as well as John. His power outs are especially impressive. This last song thaws out nicely. Three good songs taste like more\u2026like a lot more. This calls for a full CD, hopefully that will come soon<\/p>\n\n\n\n
