The super rock group ‘The Dead Daisies’ released their self-titled album in 2013. Since then they have grown considerably. The lineup changed from time to time (even now there is a different lineup) what remained is the unfading rock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘Face Your Fear’ has a surprising start, the rousing rock soon coming in. Bassist Glenn Hughes is still the vocalist. Guitarists Doug Aldrich and David Lowy are also still there. Brian Tichy is the new drummer. He too is a well-known figure in the rock circuit. The opening track fades out nicely. At the start of ‘Hypnotize Yourself’, there is enjoyable use of headphone distribution. The tempo and volume changes are good, the pace surprisingly calm at times. Even in the strongly played parts, the sound of the cymbals is beautiful. The distribution of the instruments among themselves is good. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘Radiance’ is about Daisy, she is an heiress of the underworld. During a time travel she walks through the silent streets, meanwhile she is fully focused on her cell phone. The holographic performance of “The Meta Daisies” catches her attention. When she turns around, she is captivated by a bright light shining in the distance. She travels through time to find the origin of the mysterious glow. This leads her to a dark forest with a castle. Here she discovers a secret tunnel with an underground arch. She opens a small music box, this contains a glowing ball that emits energy, this takes her to the underworld. At the court, Daisy sees “The Meta Daisies” rock, her passion for rock causes her to dance, this puts her in a euphoric state. As she touches an angel, an epic explosion is caused. She is thrust back to the city and joins the energy sphere, with this she ascends to the next meta dimension. This is a rightful  album title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The songs will do well played live, you can hear that in ‘Born to Fly’, among others. You can feel the moments where there will be interaction with the audience. Again, there is a nice minor played part in this as well. This rousing song ends rather abruptly.  ‘Kiss The Sun’ has pleasant energy, the bass has a nice presence and the guitar playing is wonderful. ‘Courageous’ has a few volume changes, Brian goes along with this just fine. Sometimes he lets his drumsticks rest for a while. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After some great rock songs, ‘Roll On’ follows with its subdued start. You can hear the emotion on the vocals. Tempo and volume increase a bit, but it remains a bit more laid back for a while. This is where the details in percussion stand out. There are also some light orchestral elements added, is fine interspersed with rocking guitar playing. The minuscule piano sounds at the end drop out too much. With that, this beautiful, sensitive song does end a bit disappointing. Especially since this is also the last of the CD. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The songs are not only written to be played live, also on CD you notice that they are constructed with care. They have a good intro and outro, as well as nice details. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, details in “Cascade,” these are hardly noticeable at first (even with headphones). In short: The Dead Daisies continue to surprise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
