In 2020, they released &#8216;Shape Without Form&#8217;. By then, the songs of &#8216;Shade Without Color&#8217;, the album that will be released on March 3, had also been written. Both albums are based on the poem The Hollow Men, by S. Eliot. In short, it is about emptiness, and the things that lead to it. Personal fate, weakness, the impersonal technology and so on are present<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first few seconds of the album are a bit peculiar, the sounds are too short to hear properly what it is. But then the metal starts at a fast pace. The tempo changes gradually. The subdued piece is beautiful, there are several changes in here as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The special intro of &#8216;Leaders&#8217; is well distributed over the headphones. Very slowly the volume increases, in the background there are occasional wordless vocals. Sometimes different layers of spoken sampling can be heard intermingled. The music in the background is special. Slowly it becomes heavier and some metal is added. Some layers of music melt together in such a way that some details are very far in the background. Even with headphones, you can hardly hear them. If you listen superficially, a lot of things pass you by. The end is beautifully sudden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8216;Chasing Time&#8217; has a slowly played intro, this mysterious atmosphere stays for a while. The drums and cymbals are played gently, in the background you can hear the sound of string instruments The change to rock\/metal is good, there are regular lighter elements interwoven. The song seems to end, but it&#8217;s a turn to a subdued part. There&#8217;s a good build-up to more power, with good drumming among other things. There&#8217;s some cool guitar playing and the bass guitar is also great. Through this you can hear lighter piano sounds, unnoticed they have disappeared. There are quite a few layers in the music, and the tempo is quite high. A little later, some piano sounds are sprinkled through again. Just before the end, the warm sounds of the string instruments emerge once more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sound of the strings in &#8216;Let Me Be No Nearer&#8217; is beautiful. The added sounds and the beat take away some of the intensity. The electronic sounds sometimes sound like a computer game. This creates a special blend with the classical elements and the metal. The special vocals (with reverb) also fit in very well. The songs are certainly experimental. You can regularly hear cello, acoustic guitar sounds, piano playing, metal and various details in one track. Spoken sampling is also an element that comes back in several songs (sometimes quite extensively).<br>Yet the songs differ enough from each other. The atmosphere in &#8216;Acceptance&#8217; is sometimes summery, in &#8216;Deliberate Disguises&#8217; the metal tempo is mostly quite high. While in &#8216;Reaper Man (Eastern) folk influences can be heard. The &#8220;choir vocals&#8221; in &#8216;Whimper&#8217; melt nicely with the rock\/metal. The calm music of &#8216;Rejtekb\u0151l&#8217; suits the (wordless) singing. The percussion forms a good blend with the strings. This last track extinguishes nicely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The contrast in volume and pitch could have been greater. There are nice details, but sometimes they are quite far in the background. Occasionally, there are quite a lot of repetitions, but on the other hand, this ensures accessibility. Because at times, the whole thing is quite experimental. There are a number of pieces with spoken sampling, special sounds and atmospheres. Because of this, the album will have to grow on you. Hierbij komen persoonlijk lot, zwakheid, de onpersoonlijke technologie en dergelijke aan bod.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De eerste paar seconden van het album zijn een beetje merkwaardig, de geluiden zijn te kort om goed te horen wat het is. Maar dan start de metal met flink hoog tempo. De wendingen in tempo verlopen geleidelijk. Het ingetogen gespeelde stuk is mooi, ook hier binnen zijn er verschillende veranderingen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het bijzondere intro van \u2018Leaders \u2018is goed verdeeld over de koptelefoon. Heel langzaam neemt het volume toe, op de achtergrond klinkt af en toe woordeloze zang. Soms zijn er verschillende laagjes gesproken sampling door elkaar te horen. De muziek op de achtergrond is bijzonder. Langzaam wordt deze zwaarder en komt er wat metal bij. Sommige laagjes van de muziek smelten dusdanig samen, dat enkele details wel erg ver op de achtergrond zijn. Zelfs met koptelefoon hoor je ze amper. Als je oppervlakkig zou luisteren, gaat er veel langs je heen. Het eind is mooi plotseling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Chasing Time\u2019 heeft een langzaam gespeeld intro, deze mysterieuze sfeer blijft een poosje. De drums en cimbalen worden aangenaam zacht bespeeld, op de achtergrond hoor je het geluid van strijkinstrumenten. De verandering naar rock\/metal is goed, er zijn regelmatig lichtere elementen in verweven. Het nummer lijkt te eindigen, maar het is een wending naar een ingetogen deel. Er is weer een goede opbouw naar meer power, met onder andere goed drumwerk. Er is gaaf gitaarspel en de basgitaar laat ook lekker van zich horen. Hier doorheen hoor je lichtere piano klanken, ongemerkt zijn ze verdwenen. Er zijn best veel laagjes in de muziek, en het tempo is vrij hoog. Even later worden er nogmaals enkele piano klanken doorheen gestrooid. Vlak voor het eind komen de warme klanken van de strijkinstrumenten nog een keer naar voren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het geluid van de strijkers in \u2018Let Me Be No Nearer\u2019 is mooi. De toegevoegde geluiden en de beat halen wat van de intensiteit weg. De elektronische geluiden hebben soms iets weg van een computerspelletje. Dit zorgt voor een aparte melange met de klassieke elementen en de metal. Ook de bijzondere zang (met galm) past prima in het geheel. Experimenteel zijn de nummers zeker. Je hoort regelmatig cello, akoestisch gitaarklanken, pianospel, metal en diverse details in \u00e9\u00e9n track. Ook gesproken sampling is een element dat in in diverse nummers (soms vrij uitgebreid) terug komt.<br>Toch verschillen de nummers genoeg van elkaar. Zo is de sfeer in \u2018Acceptance\u2019 soms zomers, in \u2018Deliberate Disguises\u2019 ligt het metal tempo overwegend vrij hoog. Terwijl er in \u2018Reaper Man (Oosterse) folkinvloeden te horen zijn. De \u201ckoorzang\u201d in \u2018Whimper\u2019 smelt mooi samen met de rock\/metal. De kalme muziek van \u2018Rejtekb\u0151l, past bij de (woordeloze) zang. De percussie vormt een goede blend met de strijkinstrumenten. Deze laatste track dooft mooi uit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het contrast in volume en toonhoogte had groter mogen zijn. Er zijn mooie details, maar soms zijn ze best ver op de achtergrond. Af en toe zijn er vrij veel herhalingen, aan de andere kant zorgt dit voor toegankelijkheid. Want met vlagen is het geheel best experimenteel. Er zijn een aantal stukken met gesproken sampling, bijzondere geluiden en sferen. Hierdoor zal het album wel even moeten groeien.
