He founded the prog band &#8216;La Sintesi&#8217; at the end of the 70s. He has always remained active, for instance as the bassist of Marygold. About two years ago, he released the double album &#8216;Lucillo &amp; Giada&#8217;\/ Topic W\u00fcrlenio&#8217; under the name BARO prog-jets. This album received rave reviews. The successor, &#8216;Utopie&#8217;, was released in mid-February. <br \/>It contains five tracks, three of them are epics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8216;Non sento&#8217; has a pleasant, spring-like melody. Baro&#8217;s remarkable voice is slightly less warm in the high notes than the music. But his voice is friendly, and therefore fits the music. The stacked vocals (by Baro) are well done. This opening track is sung in Italian. In &#8216;Utopia&#8217;, the keyboards are very present, sometimes they are played very retro. The first part of the title track is instrumental. Vocals are added in the second part, now Baro sings in English. The numerous twists and turns in the music make it a bit less accessible, but fascinating. The third part has a pleasantly long instrumental piece, again with lots of keyboards. <br \/>The changes in the music keep on coming. When Baro sings lower, his voice is warmer and therefore more enjoyable. In the &#8216;chorus&#8217;, the &#8217;togetherness&#8217; of the vocals blends nicely. You can hear the turns from one part to the other, the parts fit together well. In between all the &#8216;bustle&#8217;, there are a few short pieces that are played a little softer and slower. These are also largely complex in structure. Because the whole is a bit less accessible, the album has to grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Piano playing at the start of &#8216;Phase I&#8217; flows over into a mix of keys and strings, complemented by drums. There is a good balance between the high and low tones, this is processed in a delicious melody. <br \/>Because of the turns and the details, there is quite a lot coming at you, yet it is not bombastic. A hectic piece is alternated with a calmer part, but also here there are special rhythms and nice details. This leads to &#8216;Phase II&#8217;. With Baro singing less loudly and less high, his voice sounds clear. A touch of music is added to his words. Slowly, tempo and volume increase. Soon this change to a calmer part with light classical elements. When the music speeds up, the singing stops. There are again a lot of pleasant twists and turns. The keyboards are a mix or alternation of electronic and piano sounds. Classical elements are regularly incorporated. So, there is a lot to listen to. The third part, &#8216;Iron garden&#8217; is instrumental. The music is slower, mysterious, and has nice bass grooves. Tempo and volume build up, and so we end up in &#8216;River and Mountain. After countless twists and turns, we arrive at &#8216;Epilogue&#8217;. The polyphonic vocals are supported by rather quiet music. <br \/>After a short acceleration, this beautiful epic extinguishes a bit unexpectedly, but beautifully.<br \/>Baro has a passionate way of singing. He also has a distinctive colour of voice. De markante stem van Baro is in de hoge tonen iets minder warm van kleur dan de muziek. Maar zijn is stem is vriendelijk, en past daarom toch bij de muziek. De gestapelde zang (door Baro) is prima gedaan. Deze openingstrack is in het Italiaans gezongen. In \u2018Utopia\u2019 zijn de toetsen lekker veel aanwezig, met vlagen zijn ze heerlijk retro bespeeld. Het eerste deel van de titeltrack is instrumentaal. De zang komt er in het tweede deel bij, nu zingt Baro in het Engels. <br \/>De talloze wendingen in de muziek maken het wat minder toegankelijk, maar wel boeiend. Het derde deel heeft een aangenaam lang instrumentaal stuk, ook hier hoor je lekker veel toetsen. De veranderingen in de muziek blijven elkaar opvolgen. Als Baro lager zingt, is zijn stem warmer en ligt daarom wat prettiger in het gehoor. In het \u2018refrein\u2019 kleurt de \u2018samenzang\u2019 mooi bij elkaar. Je hoort de wendingen van het ene naar het andere deel, de delen sluiten goed bij elkaar aan. Tussen alle \u2018drukte\u2019 in, zitten er een paar korte stukjes die iets zachter en langzamer gespeeld zijn. Ook deze zijn grotendeels complex van opzet. <br \/>Doordat het geheel wat minder toegankelijk is, moet het album wel groeien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pianospel aan de start van \u2018Phase I\u2019 vloeit over in mix van toetsen en snaren, aangevuld met drums. Er is een goede balans tussen de hoge en lage tonen, dit is verwerkt in een heerlijke melodie. Door de wendingen en de details komt er best veel op je af, toch is het niet bombastisch. Een hectisch stuk wordt afgewisseld met rustiger deel, maar ook hier zijn er bijzondere ritmes en leuke details. Dit loopt over naar \u2018Phase II\u2019. Nu Baro minder hard en minder hoog zingt, klinkt zijn stem helder. Er is een vleugje muziek aan zijn woorden toegevoegd. Langzaam nemen tempo en volume toe. Al snel gaat dit over naar een rustiger deel met licht klassieke elementen. Vlak voor het eind is de zang bijna solo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Runaways\u2019 bestaat uit meerdere delen, aan de start klinkt er zang, aangevuld met een beetje muziek. <br \/>Als de muziek versnelt, stopt de zang. Er zijn weer aangenaam veel wendingen. Het toetsenwerk bestaat uit een mix dan wel afwisseling van elektronische-en pianoklanken. Hier worden regelmatig klassieke elementen in verwerkt. Er is dus veel om naar te luisteren. Het derde deel, \u2018Iron garden\u2019 is instrumentaal. De muziek is langzamer, mysterieus, en heeft mooie bas grooves. Tempo en volume worden opgebouwd, en zo zijn we beland in \u2019River and Mountain. Na ontelbare wendingen zijn we na een even later aangekomen in \u2018Epilogue\u2019. De meerstemmige zang wordt ondersteund vrij rustige muziek. Na een korte versnelling dooft deze mooie epic een beetje onverwacht, maar mooi uit.<br \/>Baro heeft een passionele manier van zingen.
