In the previous part they found out that the earth was not destroyed after all, but is a paradise. Now they find out what it costs \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This story begins with sampled sounds and atmospheric music. The soft, slightly monotonous vocals are a perfect match. &#8216;<strong>In The Dark<\/strong>&#8216; is a short opening track. Because of the sampled sounds it is clear that this is a Science Fiction story. &#8216;<strong>Sacred Sons<\/strong>&#8216; has a rocking, exhilarating start. The voices of Joe Balley and Mark are neither powerful, but colour well together. Although the lyrics would have had more impact if their voices had more strength. The heavily played parts should have had a little more power. There is a lot of guitar work and a lot of keyboards to be heard. The sound of the drums is fine, but the cymbals sound too thin. Because of the repeats, the last part of this exhilarating track takes just a little too long. Only at the last moment you hear something of the SF theme again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In &#8216;<strong>The Back Streets Of Paradise<\/strong>&#8216; you hear all kinds of voices mixed up in the background. The vocals are less emotionally charged than you would expect with the lyrics. I miss anger or despair, not only in the vocals, but also in the music. With more intensity in singing and music, the concept, and thus the storyline, had become clearer. Joe&#8217;s singing is a bit more theatrical, yet the characters and the storyline are not quite clear in &#8216;<strong>The Great Lie<\/strong>&#8216; either. But that&#8217;s not annoying, except for the sound of the cymbals, the music sounds fine. Whether the concept is completely clear or not, I enjoy the songs. And that certainly includes &#8216;<strong>Get Away<\/strong>&#8216;!<br>&#8216;<strong>Master Mind<\/strong>&#8216; is a bit more heavy, the vocals are a bit on the soft, cautious side. But in the slightly quieter parts, the balance between vocals and music is good. The spoken sampling at the end clarifies the concept. Finally: &#8216;<strong>The Answered Prayer<\/strong>&#8216; is an instrumental track, and has a good build-up towards the end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the beginning and\/or at the end of the songs you will occasionally hear sampled Science Fiction sounds. These should have been added a little more often, but better a little too little than too much. The structure of the songs &#8216;<strong><em>In The Year 3073 &#8211; Book II<\/em><\/strong>&#8216; is quite cautious, maybe even a bit flat. Now I&#8217;m just not captivated by vocals and music. The contrast in volume between the rocking and the quiet parts could have been a bit bigger. But the transitions between these two are going well. De heavy gespeelde delen hadden iets meer power mogen hebben. Er is een aangenaam portie gitaarwerk en er zijn lekker veel toetsen te horen. Het geluid van de drums is prima, maar de cimbalen klinken te iel. Door de herhalingen duurt het laatste stukje van deze opzwepende track duurt net iets te lang. Met meer intensiteit in zang en muziek was het concept, en dus de verhaallijn duidelijker geworden. De zang van Joe is iets theatraler, toch worden de personages en de verhaallijn ook in \u2018<strong>The Great Lie<\/strong>\u2019 niet helemaal duidelijk. Maar hinderlijk is dat niet, op het geluid van de cimbalen na, klinkt de muziek prima. Of het concept nu wel of niet helemaal duidelijk is, ik geniet van de nummers. En daar hoort \u2018<strong>Get Away<\/strong>\u2019 zeker bij!<br>\u2018<strong>Master Mind<\/strong>\u2019 is wat meer heavy van opzet, de zang is wat aan de zachte, voorzichtige kant. Maar in de iets rustigere delen is de balans tussen zang en muziek goed. De gesproken sampling op het einde verduidelijk het concept.
