Dit album gaat over de onbewuste angsten van de mens. En de manier om zelf in balans te blijven terwijl er in de wereld van alles gebeurt. Voor het eerst zijn alle nummers niet alleen in het Duits gezongen, maar ook in het Engels. Dat is de reden dat \u2019<strong><em>In Oculis Meis<\/em><\/strong>\u2019 een dubbelalbum is geworden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018<strong>The Awakening<\/strong>\u2019 start met pianospel, vermengend met sferische klanken. Een hoge stem wordt ingezet als instrument. De wending naar meer pit verloopt wat vreemd, de muziek is nu doffer van geluid. De theatrale zang van Alexander Weyland is vrij lastig te verstaan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018<strong>Preserve &amp; Understand<\/strong>\u2019 begint dromerig. Er is een plotselinge wending naar rock. Een aantal andere wendingen verlopen geleidelijk. Door de herhalingen in het ritme, vallen de leuke details niet altijd meteen op.<br>Gitarist Tobias Hampl speelt gevarieerd. De gestapelde zang is goed toegevoegd. De structuur voelt niet altijd aan als een geheel, maar de opbouw naar het einde is mooi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De woorden van Alexander zitten tussen praten en zingen in tijdens het eerste deel van \u2018<strong>Walk on yourself<\/strong>\u2019. Dit is in harmonie met de muziek. Als muziek in volume en tempo toeneemt, blijft de balans met de zang bestaan. Ook in dit nummer zijn er diverse herhalingen in de muziek. Het toetsenwerk is prima en het gitaarspel is super. De licht klassieke elementen hadden gerust wat duidelijker aanwezig mogen zijn,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Na de gave intro van \u2018<strong>Escape<\/strong>\u2019 is er een mix van vet lage bas en enkele hoge tonen. Dit vormt samen met woordeloze, hoge zang een goed contrast. Enkele details vallen soms nauwelijks op. Het einde is onverwacht maar gaaf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In \u2018<strong>So Many Ways<\/strong>\u2019 worden (heavy) rock elementen gemixt, dan wel afgewisseld met elektrische klanken. Het komt her en der wat chaotisch over, maar dat past in het thema.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Je hoort niet alleen de elektronische klank van de toetsen in \u2018<strong>The New Morning<\/strong>\u2019, maar ook heerlijk (bombastisch) orgelspel. Gaaf gitaarspel en supergoed orgelspel wisselen elkaar een aantal keer af. Alles wordt goed aangevuld door de ritmesectie. Met Till Ottinger op bas en Ray Gattner achter de drumkit. De details van onder andere de zang zijn prima verdeeld over de koptelefoon. Qua opbouw is dit \u00e9\u00e9n van de beter nummers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Een aantal toegevoegde geluiden in \u2018<strong>Understand &amp; Preserve<\/strong>\u2019 zijn met koptelefoon op minder aangenaam. Als ik het volume lager draai, is de overige muziek weer wat te zacht. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018<strong>X-Ray The Darkness\u2019<\/strong> start met pure, heldere klanken. Na de wending die niet helemaal soepel verloopt, is er weer de mix van rock en lichtere sound van de toetsen. De (gestapelde) zang klinkt in sommige stukken vervormd. De heldere klanken van het begin keren terug. Ineens is er onrust in de muziek, deze verdwijnt ongemerkt. Dit laatste nummer heeft een plotseling einde. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De (nieuwe) heavy elementen passen prima bij <strong><em>Traumhaus<\/em><\/strong>, en mogen zeker blijven.  Wel is dit soms te zacht ten opzichte van de rustige\/sferische delen. Bovendien is de klank van de heavy delen vrij dof, de sferische delen zijn vaak wel helder. Door het ontbreken van deze finesse, kruipen zang en muziek niet onder mijn huid. In diverse delen is het aantal herhalingen vrij hoog. Verder is er genoeg variatie, en zijn er volop details. Al vallen deze soms nauwelijks op. A high-pitched voice is used as an instrument. The turn towards more spunk is a bit strange, the music is now duller in sound. Because of the lack of this finesse, vocals and music don&#8217;t get under my skin. In several parts the number of repetitions is quite high.
