When the doors opened, it was still fairly quiet, but the venue quickly filled up. This time there was no organ on stage; Henrik had brought \u201conly\u201d drummer Leon Mucke and bassist Ren\u00e9 P\u00fctz with him.<br>The three men took to the stage calmly. In his own modest, warm manner, Henrik greeted the audience. He started with the old song \u201cThe Blues\u201d. He began solo, and a moment later Leon and Ren\u00e9 joined in perfectly. The tempo and volume immediately increased. Henrik was standing facing Ren\u00e9 as he played. This instrumental part was beautiful; for a moment, Henrik played alone and a little more softly. The sudden interplay was perfect. Henrik and Ren\u00e9 faced each other while playing almost all of the songs, right in front of the drum kit. These interactions were beautifully accentuated by the beams of light shining down, creating moving patterns on the floor. Although Henrik has a modest way of performing, you could feel the passion and pleasure with which he played.<br>In the loud parts, Henrik had difficulty risinghis voice above the music, but that wasn&#8217;t distracting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Missing Pieces<\/strong><br>During a guitar change, Henrik talked about the special artwork of \u201cMissing Pieces\u201d. From this album, he played \u201cNew Beginning\u201d. The lights moved more calmly, which suited the subdued, compelling intro. Henrik&#8217;s voice matched the softly played part. His guitar playing slowly flowed into intensity. Ren\u00e9 and Leon went along with this change. Henrik played very intensely, and even in the forte (loud) parts, he managed to convey the emotion. This was rightly rewarded with extra applause. Thanks to the subtle non-verbal communication, the build-up to the subdued ending went very well. \u201cThe Bridge\u201d was the second last song before the break. This song also consists of both fast and quietly played parts. In a quiet part there was a sing-a-long section, which stood out: \u201cWoo-hoo\u201d. The audience sang along softly and respectfully. The band played more and more softly, at one point even pianissimo (very softly). The audience sang more and more softly, and the band members enjoyed this interaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Sky is crying<\/strong><br>After the break, it was time for some catchy blues rock, including \u201cShe Ain&#8217;t Got The Blues\u201d. Where possible, Leon hit the drum heads really hard. This was followed by (the cover) \u201cThe Sky is Crying\u201d, with its subdued intro, sung and played with restraint. During the fast and loud part, Henrik&#8217;s fingers flew over the strings at lightning speed. The transition to a minimalist piece was perfect. The band played softer and softer, the audience was still fascinated. Because here too, the passion with which they played was palpable. Almost everyone in the venue kept quiet, which made this minimalist part even more impressive. Then Henrik played very fast again, his fingers flying over the strings once more. This time he played fast and soft, which was also impressive. There were several sudden changes in tempo and volume. These were appreciated by the fans. This remains a beloved song, and this version was sublime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The men continued almost non-stop. At one point, Henrik put down his guitar and walked away. Ren\u00e9 had already shown with his bass playing that his five-string bass is much more than \u201cjust\u201d a rhythm instrument. Now he literally had all the time in the world to show off his varied playing style. Leon drummed along, mostly gently and steady. Ren\u00e9 also played solo for a while. During his wordless (sometimes quite high) singing, the audience clapped along to the rhythm of his (funky) bass playing. After about 9 minutes, Henrik returned and praised Ren\u00e9 and Leon. This was the \u2018last\u2019 song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Desert love<\/strong><br>Of course, there was an encore. It started with the crowd favourite \u201cDesert Love\u201d, followed by the cover \u201cFoxy Lady\u201d. Henrik had used his whammy bar in several songs, but here it seemed to be used more. Both the band and the audience particularly enjoyed the fast-paced part. The words \u201cFoxy Lady\u201d were spontaneously sung along. This song seemed to be ending, but Henrik continued. Another fast-paced part followed. Eye contact betrayed that the end was now coming.<br>Surprisingly, they continued playing non-stop with \u201cFire\u201d. This meant that the audience could enjoy Henrik Freischlader and his band for a little longer than expected. It was a very successful evening. Op het moment dat de deuren open gingen, was het nog vrij rustig, maar al snel stroomde de zaal voller. Dit keer geen orgel op het podium, deze avond had Henrik \u201calleen\u201d drummer Leon Mucke en bassist Ren\u00e9 P\u00fctz meegenomen.<br>Deze drie mannen betraden het podium rustig. Op zijn eigen, ingetogen, hartelijke manier begroette Henrik de aanwezigen. Hij startte met het oude nummer \u2018The Blues\u2019. Hij begon solo, even later vielen Leon en Ren\u00e9 prima bij. Tempo en volume gingen meteen omhoog. Henrik stond tegen over Ren\u00e9 te spelen. Dit instrumentale stuk was mooi, even speelde Henrik alleen en een stuk zachter. Het plotselinge samenspel verliep perfect. Bijna bij alle nummers stonden deze Henrik en Ren\u00e9 tegenover elkaar te spelen, vlak voor het drumstel. Deze interacties kwamen extra mooi tot uiting vanwege de lichtbundels die naar beneden schenen, en op de vloer bewegende patronen gaven. Hoewel Henrik een bescheiden manier van performen heeft, voelde je de passie en het plezier waarmee hij speelde.<br>In de luid gespeelde delen had Henrik moeite om er met zijn stem bovenuit te komen, maar storend was dat niet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Missing Pieces<\/strong><br>Tijdens een gitaarwissel vertelde Henrik over het bijzondere artwork van \u2018Missing Pieces\u2019. Van dit album speelde hij \u2018New Beginning\u2019. Het licht bewoog rustiger, dat paste bij het ingetogen, meeslepende intro. Henriks stem sloot aan bij het zacht gespeelde deel. Zijn gitaarspel vloeide langzaam over naar intens. Ren\u00e9 en Leon gingen mee met deze verandering. Henrik speelde zeer intens, ook in de forte (luid) gespeelde delen wist hij de emotie over te brengen. Dit werd terecht beloond met een extra applaus. Door de subtiele non-verbale communicatie verliep de opbouw naar het ingetogen einde zeer goed. \u2018The Bridge\u2019 was het \u00e9\u00e9n na laatste nummer voor de pauze. Ook dit nummer bestaat uit zowel snelle als rustig gespeelde delen. In een rustig deel zat een sing-a-long stukje, dat stond uit: \u201cWoehoe\u201d. Het publiek zong dit zacht en respectvol mee. De band speelde steeds zachter, op een gegeven moment zelfs pianissimo (zeer zacht). Het publiek zong steeds zachter, de bandleden genoten van deze wisselwerking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Sky is crying<\/strong><br>Na de pauze was het met onder andere \u2018She Ain&#8217;t Got The Blues\u2019 tijd voor pakkende blues-rock. Daar waar het kon raakte Leon de drumvellen flink hard. Daarna volgde (de cover) \u2018The Sky is crying\u2019, met het ingetogen gezongen en gespeelde intro. Tijdens het snel en luid gespeelde deel vlogen de vingers van Henrik razendsnel over de snaren. De overgang naar een minimalistisch stuk verliep perfect. De band speelde steeds zachter, het publiek beef geboeid. Want ook hier was de bezieling waarmee gespeeld werd voelbaar. Bijna iedereen in de zaal was stil, waardoor dit minimalistisch gespeelde deel nog meer indruk maakte. Daarna speelde Henrik weer heel snel, weer vlogen zijn vingers over de snaren. Deze keer speelde hij snel en zacht, ook dat was indrukwekkend. Er volgde diverse plotselinge tempo-en volumewisselingen. Deze werden gewaardeerd door de fans. Dit blijft een geliefd nummer, deze versie was subliem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bijna non-stop gingen de mannen verder. Op een geven moment zette Henrik zijn gitaar neer en liep weg. Ren\u00e9 had met zijn basspel al laten horen dat zijn vijfsnarige bas veel meer is dan \u201calleen maar\u201d een ritme-instrument. Nu kreeg hij letterlijk alle tijd om zijn gevarieerde manier van spelen te laten horen. Leon drumde en groot deel zacht en steady mee. Ren\u00e9 speelde ook een poosje helemaal solo. Tijdens zijn woordeloze (soms behoorlijk hoge) zang, klapte men mee in de maat van zijn (funky) basspel. Na zo\u2019n 9 minuten kwam Henrik terug, hij roemde Ren\u00e9 en Leon. Dit was het \u201claatste\u201d nummer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Desert love<\/strong><br>Natuurlijk kreeg men een toegift. Deze startte met publiekslieveling \u2018Desert love\u2019. Gevolgd door de cover \u2018Foxy Lady\u2019. Henrik had in meerdere nummers zijn whammy bar gebruikt, maar hier leek het wel meer. Zowel de band als het publiek genoten vooral van het snel gespeelde deel. De woorden \u201cFoxy Lady\u201d werden spontaan meegezongen. Dit nummer leek te eindigen, maar Henrik ging door. Weer volgde er een snel gespeeld stuk. Oogcontact verraadde even laten dat het einde nu wel kwam.<br>Verrassend werd er non-stop verder gespeeld met \u2018Fire\u2019. Zodoende kon met onverwacht nog wat langer genieten van Henrik Freischlader en band. Men kan terugkijken op een zeer geslaagde avond.
