The prog band Ring Van M\u00f6bius no longer exists, the three-track album Firebrand is their very last (concept) album. The title track is less than ten minutes long, making it the shortest track on the album. False Dawn is a fantastic epic lasting over 25 minutes. It seems to end with a bombastic piece, but this is followed by a section with emotional piano playing and sound effects. After countless (unexpected) twists and turns, it ends unexpectedly.
Singer\/keyboardist Thor Erik Helgesen expresses emotion in both the minimalist and powerfully sung parts. At times, his organ playing is retro prog, at other times you hear minimalist piano playing or electronic sounds. Dag Olav Hus\u00e5s plays various percussion instruments: sometimes minimalist, at other times he is more loudly present. Of course, we mustn’t forget bassist H\u00e5vard Rasmussen.
The music ranges from minimalist to bombastic and everything in between. Due to the complex compositions, it takes a while before you get to know the songs a little. \u201cFirebrand\u201d is highly recommended for lovers of complex prog rock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
