The French band Edenya plays a mix of (prog) rock, ambient and folk. The first few tracks are mainly calm. However, the tempo in part of \u2018The Outing\u2019, for example, is slightly higher, and there are some rocking elements. The differences in volume between the calm and rocking parts are too small. As a result, the music lacks intensity. The sound of the cymbals is a bit tinny. The blend\/alternation between rock and folk (and violin) is good.
‘Foreign Ground’ has a fascinating composition and contains a wonderful interaction\/interplay between Arabic\/Eastern influences, rock\/acoustic guitar playing and djembe, among other things. At times, there are too many repetitions in the otherwise very fine title track. A number of songs are (largely) Classical-oriented. The music sometimes lacks warmth, and therefore affects me less than I would like. The high vocals have almost a sharp sound, and in \u2018Lady\u2019 the vocals do not sound stable throughout. I do notice that the album is sung and played with emotion, but that does not come across entirely well. It’s a pity, because most of the songs have a good structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
