World on Fire is the debut album from the international rock band Tiffany Kills. The six-piece band includes lead singer John (Jaycee) Cuijpers (Ayreon and Praying Mantis, among others), and guitarists\/backing vocalists Christian Tolle (C.T.P) and Mathias \u2018Don\u2019 Dieth. The start of \u2018I’ll Come Running\u2019 is energetic and rocking. John has a beautiful rock voice with fairly clear pronunciation. The backing vocals are added at fairly predictable moments, but they are a good addition. There is plenty of guitar playing and some beautiful solos. All this is complemented by the excellent rhythm section. There are plenty of delightful details in the music. Moreover, the vocals and music are well spread across the headset. After a beautiful ending, \u2018Star Rider\u2019 follows. Although this track is slightly slower at times, the rock remains pleasantly present.
\u2018Breathless\u2019 has a calm start. When the music gets a little louder, the organ sounds are sometimes a little too far in the background. Otherwise, the balance between the instruments and between vocals and music is excellent. This makes this accessible track a pleasure to listen to, as are the tracks that follow. Despite the verse-chorus structure, there are plenty of details to keep you interested. Not only is there a lot of beautiful guitar playing, but the bass is also regularly clearly audible. The drumming contains enjoyable breaks and fills. The music is well spread across the headset, which can also be heard in \u201cThe Higher They Climb\u201d, for example. Each song has beautiful and\/or surprising elements. John’s vocal range is impressive, but the backing vocals are also noteworthy. This applies not only to the men, but also to Mendy Sneijers. Her voice is definitely a beautiful addition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The title track starts with sampling of sirens, among other things. Then the music comes in, at first “cautiously” but the tempo becomes rousing. This is a sing-along song, which will surely come to the fore when played live. However, few will be able to match the band’s vocal level. Cool instrumental pieces are interspersed with beautiful vocal parts. Not all the words are entirely easy to understand, so a booklet with the lyrics would have been appreciated. ‘World on Fire’ is a well-chosen title track.
The organ sounds are more prominent in ‘Too Young’. Once again, the excellent guitar playing stands out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the intro to ‘Caught In The Middle’, you can hear the sounds of an acoustic guitar for a moment. This blends well with the organ sounds. The volume of the music increases briefly. Later, there is an alternation\/blend between acoustic and electric guitar playing. In addition, there are broad contrasts between light and heavy elements in the music. The music and (background) vocals remain in balance. The sounds of acoustic guitar and organ return briefly at the end. This track is so beautiful that it could easily have been the title track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the beginning of \u2018Rock My World\u2019, you feel that there is going to be a change to a faster tempo. But the rest of the song is different than expected, which is lovely! After listening to it a few times, you can sing along to parts of the chorus. This song has beautiful tempo and volume differences and cool, rousing parts with beautiful drumming.
Finally, ‘In And Outta Love’, the ending is quite unexpected, yet it doesn’t feel unnatural.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tiffany Kills consists of good musicians and vocalists. ‘World on Fire’ contains delicious, unadulterated rock. With this debut album, Tiffany Kills have a real claim to fame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
