‘Roxy Passion’ is the new EP from Italian prog rock band Silver Nightmares. They add AOR rock, heavy metal and some light classical influences to their sound. Two tracks are instrumental, while G\u00f6ran Edman sings on the other two. His rock voice fits the title track perfectly. At times, you hear a pleasant amount of keyboards and delicious “screaming” guitar playing. The layered vocals are sometimes added at predictable moments, but that increases the accessibility of this catchy opening track. The instrumental ‘Cats on the Run’ starts with sampled sounds of thunder and a \u201cscreaming\u201d cat, a sound that returns later. The a cappella start of ‘The Blue Light’ is surprising. The polyphonic background vocals form a beautiful unity with the calm piano sounds of this track.
The electronic sounds create a \u201cspace atmosphere\u201d in ‘The Blue Light (Space Version)’. This last song has fewer twists and turns and a fairly predictable ending.
Due to various changes in the line-up in recent years, Silver Nightmares may not yet have a consistent style. Nevertheless, you can certainly hear similarities with previous albums\/EPs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Roxy Passion\u2019 is de nieuwe EP van de Italiaanse prog rock band band Silver Nightmares. Ze voegen er Aor rock, heavy metal en enkele licht klassieke invloeden aan toe. Twee nummers zijn instrumentaal, G\u00f6ran Edman zingt de andere twee nummers .Zijn rockstem past prima bij de titeltrack. Met vlagen hoor je aangenaam veel toetsen en lekker gillend gitaarspel. De gestapelde zang is soms op voorspelbare momenten ingezet, maar dat vergroot de toegankelijkheid van deze pakkende openingstrack. Het instrumentale \u2018Cats on the run\u2019 start met gesampelde geluiden van onweer en een \u201ckrijsende\u201d kat, dit geluid komt later terug. De a capella start van \u2018The Blue Light\u2019 is verrassend. De meerstemmige achtergrondzang vormt een mooie eenheid met de kalme pianoklanken van deze track.
De elektronische klanken zorgen voor een \u201dspace-sfeer\u201d in \u2018The Blue Light (Space Version)\u2019. Dit laatste nummer heeft minder wendingen en een redelijk voorspelbaar einde.
Door diverse wisselingen in de bezetting van de afgelopen jaren heeft Silver Nightmares misschien nog geen \u201cvaste\u201d stijl. Toch hoor je zeker overeenkomsten met vorige albums\/EP\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
