‘H\u00f6gtid’ (2014) is the debut album by Swedish retro prog band Agusa, the re-release of which is out now. With a mix of Scandinavian folk rock and psychedelic influences, they create their own style of music. You can hear the retro right away in ‘Uti v\u00e5r hage ‘. The music is fittingly joyful in ‘Melodi fr\u00e5n St. Knut’. In the extraordinary epic ‘\u00d6stan om sol, v\u00e4stan om m\u00e5ne’, various musical influences (and unusual vocal sounds) from the East merge perfectly with Western prog. The melange of melody and rhythm is sublime. Only ‘Stigen genom skogen’ has a few sung lines. The rather short ‘K\u00e4rlek Fr\u00e5n Agusa’ is not on the vinyl release.
Throughout, there is very good organ and guitar playing. The bass grooves are cool. The cymbals are played very beautiful in detail. Occasionally there are wordless vocals, these are added just fine. The tracks are complex, there are several (unexpected) changes of style, tempo, volume and atmosphere. The few repetitions create a delightful flow. Good news: four other, old albums will also be re-released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018H\u00f6gtid\u2019 (2014) is het debuutalbum van Zweedse retro progband Agusa, de re-release hiervan is net uit. Met een mix van Scandinavische folk rock en psychedelische invloeden cre\u00ebren ze een eigen muziekstijl. De retro hoor je meteen in \u2018Uti v\u00e5r hage\u2019. De muziek is passend vrolijk bij \u2018Melodi fr\u00e5n St. Knut\u2019. In de bijzondere epic \u2018\u00d6stan om sol, v\u00e4stan om m\u00e5ne\u2019 gaan diverse muziekinvloeden (en bijzondere vocale klanken) uit het Oosten perfect samen met Westerse prog. De melange van melodie en ritme is subliem. Alleen \u2018Stigen genom skogen\u2019 heeft enkele gezongen regels. Het vrij korte \u2018K\u00e4rlek Fr\u00e5n Agusa\u2019 staat niet op de vinyl uitgave.
Overal is er zeer goed orgel-en gitaarspel. De bas grooves zijn gaaf. De cimbalen worden mooi gedetailleerd bespeeld. Af en toe is er woordloze zang, deze is prima toegevoegd. De tracks zijn complex, er zijn diverse (onverwachte) veranderingen van stijl, tempo, volume en sfeer. De paar herhalingen zorgen voor een heerlijke flow. Goed nieuws: ook vier andere, oude albums worden opnieuw uitgebracht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
