The EP \u2018Focus\u2019 is Soft Ffog’s second release. This Norwegian quartet combines jazz with prog rock to create nostalgic, instrumental songs.
Opening track \u2018Camel\u2019 is complex, you have a lot to listen to. Elements from the beginning, reappear at the end. \u2018Focus\u2019 contains subdued parts and beautiful, high-pitched (keyboard) tones, among other things. This third (and second-to-last) track is a fine blend of jazz and prog.
Due to the complex build-up, it takes a while before you get to know this EP a bit. The balance or alternation between the instruments is good. This remains, even when the music seems to go against each other. There are numerous twists in tempo and volume. The retro feel of the music is lovely, the sound is good. Although in the gently played parts there seems to be a small dull layer over the music, but this doesn’t bother , not at all.
The titles of the (very different) tracks reveal their sources of inspiration. Those influences can be heard. Yet Soft Ffog has its own sound, and it pleases very much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
