Saturday night 5 April tribute bands Slash N’ Roses + Bad Medicine were in De Bosuil, Weert (The Netherlands). The eight-member band Slash N’ Roses gained national fame through their participation in the TV programme The Tribute – Battle of the Bands. The Italian Bon Jovi tribute band kicked off this evening. Bassist Steve Balocco sang the first line of \u2018You give love a bad name\u2019. Frontman Josh Zighetti appeared last he continued the song. Fans immediately sang along spontaneously. During the choruses, he held the microphone, including stand above the heads of the audience. Josh made plenty of eye contact with the (female) fans. Danilo Bar’s guitar solo was good. When keyboardist Dave Sadok didn’t have to sing, he was dancing behind his keyboard. The band members played wirelessly. Danilo and Steve switched places frequently. Drummer Andrea Pedrazzi had no share of backing vocals, but he sang along plenty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Wanted dead or alive<\/strong>
During \u2018Runaway\u2019, Danilo and Steve were playing side by side. Their backing vocals, as well as Dave’s, formed a fine harmony. Sometimes the stage performance came across as somewhat rehearsed, at other times it was spontaneous. The energetic band members visibly enjoyed themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Josh picked up an acoustic guitar for \u2018Wanted dead or alive\u2019. He, Danilo and Steve \u2018pounded\u2019 rhythmically with their fists on the their (bass) guitar. After the well-performed ballad \u2018Always\u2019, the band closed with \u2018Livin\u2019 on a prayer\u2019. This rousing hit was loudly roared along by the audience. Fans can look back on a good performance by Bad Medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Slash N’ Roses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The stage was transformed for Slash N’ Roses. Among other things, they had brought their own raises. These were placed at the front of the stage. The first sounds of \u2018Nightrain’ sounded. Lead guitarist Armand Gabeler had stepped into the role of Slash. Frontman Richard Dalmolen looked like Axl in his outfit and performance style. He used the microphone stand in his performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The real Guns N’ Roses played at the Bospop festival grounds in Weert in 2023. Axl’s vocals were not what they once were. Richard did reach the high notes, though, as he did in \u2018Welcome to the Jungle\u2019. This song features a beautiful piece of drumming by Danny Waegemaeker. Armand played fantastic guitar, but rhythm guitarist Kenneth De Krieger’s part was also very good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Richard made plenty of eye contact with the people in the venue. He moved like Axl, which felt very natural, making you forget it wasn’t Axl himself standing there. In between some songs, Richard was telling something, although he has enough power with singing, he was a bit harder to understand with talking. There was plenty of interaction between the band members, it was obvious that they too were enjoying themselves. So much was happening on stage, it was impossible to keep up with everything. The band members interacted well, the twists and turns in the songs went well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Yesterdays<\/strong>
Wim van Deuren played the piano solo for \u2018Yesterdays\u2019. The stage was dark, he was beautifully lit.
You could only see a small part of his face, which was enough to see that he was one with \u2018November Rain\u2019. Fans sang along to almost all the songs. But this hit was sung along by almost everyone. This was a very beautiful version, in which backing singers Sjharlie Vos and Desie Brom also played a pretty part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Armand regularly stood on a raise to play, so people at the back of the hall could also see what he was doing. During a solo, he let out special vocal sounds using a tube. This was the \u2018prelude\u2019 to \u2018Sweet Child o\u2019 Mine\u2019. Again, people sang along at the top of their voices. Armand and Kenneth played side by side, with Arie joining in. During the instrumental part, Richard jumped and danced to the full, while still managing to have enough breath to sing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paradise City<\/strong>
The band members were having fun among themselves, making non-verbal jokes where they could. Armand picked up a double-necked guitar before the start of \u2018Knockin\u2019 on Heaven’s Door’. Armand and Richard sat on a raise. Richard burst out laughing, struggling to concentrate for a moment, but he quickly regained his focus. For the first time, Sjharlie and Desie left their seats. Despite their mega high platform soles with giga high heels, they stepped on a raise. Once again, their singing came off very well. Already they made eye contact with the audience earlier, but on the raise they played, seductively, to the fans. After \u2018Slither\u2019, the band left the stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Armand returned first for the encore, now taking the floor. He thanked Bad Medicine, the crew, and the volunteers of De Bosuil.
He then played the intro to \u2018Paradise City\u2019. Meanwhile, the full band was back on stage. Sjharlie and Desie danced seductively around Armand and Arie. Danny twirled while playing the slightly slower part. The tempo picked up, the performance got wilder and wilder. The band members went wild, some fans too. Slash N\u2018 Roses was especially vocally better than Guns N\u2019 Roses. Hopefully this Dutch tribute band will play at Bospop one day, they certainly deserve it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zaterdagavond 5 april stonden de tribute bands Slash N’ Roses + Bad Medicine in De Bosuil, Weert. De achtkoppige band Slash N’ Roses kreeg landelijke bekendheid door hun deelname aan het tv programma The Tribute – Battle of the Bands. De Italiaanse Bon Jovi tribute band startte deze avond. Bassist Steve Balocco zong de eerste regel van \u2018You give love a bad name\u2019. Frontman Josh Zighetti verscheen als laatste hij zong het vervolg. Fans zongen meteen spontaan mee. Tijdens de refreinen hield hij de microfoon, inclusief standaard boven de hoofden van het publiek. Josh maakte volop oogcontact met de (vrouwelijke) fans. De gitaarsolo van Danilo Bar was goed. Als toetsenist Dave Sadok niet hoefde te zingen, stond hij te dansen achter zijn keyboard. De bandleden speelden wireless. Danilo en Steve wisselde regelmatig van plaats. Drummer Andrea Pedrazzi had geen aandeel in de achtergrondzang, maar hij zong volop mee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wanted dead or alive<\/strong>

Na de goed uitgevoerde ballad \u2018Always\u2019 sloot de band af met \u2018Livin\u2019 on a prayer\u2019. Deze opzwepende hit werd luidkeels meegebruld door het publiek. Fans kunnen terug kijken op een goed optreden van Bad Medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Slash N’ Roses <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Het podium werd omgebouwd voor Slash N’ Roses. Ze hadden onder andere hun eigen raises meegenomen. Deze werden vooraan op het podium neer gezet. De eerste geluiden van \u2018Nightrain\u2019 klonken. Lead gitarist Armand Gabeler was in de huid van Slash gekropen. Frontman Richard Dalmolen leek in zijn outfit en in zijn manier van performen op Axl. Hij gebruikte de microfoonstandaard in zijn performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

De echte Guns N\u2019 Roses speelde in 2023 op het Bospop terrein in Weert. De zang van Axl was niet meer wat het ooit was. Richard haalde de hoge tonen wel, zo ook in \u2018Welcome to the Jungle\u2019. Dit nummer bevat een mooi staaltje drumwerk van Danny Waegemaeker. Armand speelde fantastisch gitaar, maar ook het aandeel van ritmisch gitarist Kenneth De Krieger was erg goed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Richard maakte volop oogcontact met de mensen in de zaal. Hij bewoog zoals Axl, dat voelde heel natuurlijk aan, waardoor je vergat dat het niet Axl zelf was die er stond. Tussen enkele nummers door vertelde Richard iets, hoewel hij met zang power genoeg heeft, was hij met praten wat minder goed te verstaan. Er was volop interactie tussen de bandleden, het was duidelijk dat ook zij genoten. Er gebeurde zo veel op het podium, dat je onmogelijk alles bij kon houden. De bandleden zijn goed op elkaar ingespeeld, de wendingen in de nummers verliepen goed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Yesterdays<\/strong>
Wim van Deuren speelde de pianosolo voor \u2018Yesterdays\u2019. Het podium was donker, hij werd mooi in het licht gezet.
Je zag maar een klein stukje van zijn gezicht, dat was genoeg om te zien dat hij \u00e9\u00e9n was met \u2018November Rain\u2019. Fans zongen bijna alle nummers mee. Maar deze hit werd bijna door iedereen meegezongen. Dit was een hele mooie versie, waarin ook de achtergrondzangeressen Sjharlie Vos en Desie Brom een mooi aandeel in hadden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Armand stond regelmatig op een raise te spelen, zo konden ook de mensen achter in de zaal zien wat hij deed. Tijdens een solo liet hij via een slangetje bijzondere vocale klanken horen. Dit was de \u201copmaat\u201d voor \u2018Sweet Child o’ Mine\u2019. Weer zong men uit volle borst mee. Armand en Kenneth speelden zij aan zij, Arie kwam er bij staan. Tijdens het instrumentale deel sprong en danste Richard volop, daarbij had hij nog genoeg adem om te zingen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paradise City<\/strong>
De bandleden onderling hadden veel plezier, daar waar het kon maakten ze non-verbale grapjes. Armand pakte een gitaar met dubbele hals voor aanvang van \u2018Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door\u2019. Armand en Richard zaten op een raise. Richard schoot in de lach, en had even moeite om zich te concentreren, maar hij herpakte zich snel. Voor het eerst verlieten Sjharlie en Desie hun plaats. Ondanks hun mega hoge plateauzolen met giga hoge hakken stapten ze op een raise. Hun zang kwam nogmaals zeer goed tot hun recht. Al eerder maakten ze oogcontact met het publiek, maar op de raise bespeelde ze, op een verleidelijke manier, de fans. Na \u2018Slither\u2019 verliet de band het podium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Armand kwam als eerste terug voor de toegift, nu nam hij het woord. Hij bedankte Bad Medicine, de crew, en de vrijwilligers van De Bosuil.
Vervolgens speelde hij het intro van \u2018Paradise City\u2019. Inmiddels was de voltallige band weer op het podium. Sjharlie en Desie dansten verleidelijk om Armand en Arie heen. Danny twirlde tijdens het spelen van het iets langzamere deel. Het tempo werd hoger, de performance werd wilder en wilder. De bandleden gingen los, een aantal fans ook. Slash N’ Roses was vooral vocaal beter dan Guns N\u2019 Roses. Hopelijk speelt deze Nederlandse tribute band een keer op Bospop, dat verdienen ze zeker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
