Eleonore is a classically trained pianist from Germany. From 1978 to 1982, she played as a stand-in in a local prog\/hard rock band. That was very different from the music she was used to. Moreover, she had stage fright, preferring to hide behind her keyboards. After she left the band, she completed her university studies. Until her retirement, she lovingly worked as a special education teacher. She thought she would never go back into music, but things turned out differently. To make a long story short, she completed an education in music production and founded her international online project Ali\u00e9nor in 2021, in which she likes to experiment with different musical styles. The debut alum \u2018The Raven\u2019 was released in 2023. This is a prog rock\/hard rock album. Meanwhile, \u2018Dedications\u2019 (EP) is out. She wrote everything herself, except the lyrics of \u2018Little Leaves\u2019 and \u2018Freedom\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Little Leaves\u2019 is a poem by English poet Lord A. Tennyson (1809 -1892). The classical start includes piano playing and violin. The low notes form a nice contrast with the violin. Grey D has a clear pronunciation, her calm vocals matching the music and the atmosphere of the ancient poem. The layers of the different instruments are well spread across the headset. With good sound quality, the details come out well. \u2018Short Love Song\u2019 has a beautiful blend of various instruments, including strings. Unnoticed, there are more layers in the calm music than you initially realise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The music of \u2018Freedom\u2019 is also written to an old poem, this time by George Cooper (1840 – 1927). The rhythm is steady but calm. Twists and details are added in a subtle way. The vocals are occasionally stacked, at other times used as an instrument. The ending is cut too early, a pity.
The start of \u2018Through The Years\u2019 is calm but intriguing. Rhythm and melody form a pleasant flow, but too little happens to make a deep impression. But the details of the \u2018barchimes\u2019, for instance, triggers you to listen extra carefully.
The sound of water suits \u2018Down By The River\u2019; despite the calmness, there are details woven into the music. Grey D. sings clearly and relaxed. The combination of the instruments among themselves, and with the electronic beat is special, the folk elements enhancing this. The build-up verse chorus is quite predictable, snatching attention away from the good details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the unusual details and m\u00e9lange in the music, it touches me less than hoped for. There could have been a bit more variety and unexpected elements in vocals and music, this was also possible while maintaining the calm atmosphere.
This album is very different from \u2018The Raven\u2019. \u2018Dedications\u2019 is much calmer in concept\u2019. This shows Ali\u00e9nor’s versatility. This is a pleasant album if you want to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
