Drunkelweizen is an American band. They call their style \u2018Drunken Folk Metal\u2019. Their debut album, \u2018Pioneers of Alcohol\u2019, will be released September 6th. The lyrics are about historical (legendary) figures whose lives were intertwined with alcohol. The instrumental \u2018Moonshine Overture\u2019 is followed by \u2018Robinhood of Moonshine\u2019, an ode to a folk hero who fought against tax laws on whisky. This one starts with slow grunts. The music contains historical-sounding folk elements. The vocals\/grunts are low and raw. The instrumental piece is unexpectedly quiet and atmospheric.
The sampling in, for instance, \u2018Draining the Cask\u2019 has added value. In all songs, the balance between metal and folk is good. This tastes like more, as everything is a brew of rebellious, wild and joyful. Robust soundscapes are added. The quieter pieces provide stability. At times, the \u2018Drunken Folk Metal\u2019 has serious undertones. The alternation\/combination between high and low notes is good, so are the rough\/clean vocals versus grunts. Drunkelweizen is an absolute mood creator, both at festivals\/in venues and at home. Some parts you just \u201chave to\u201d roar along.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
