‘One Of The Many’ is the new progressive rock album by singer and multi-instrumentalist Rick Miller. The album cover reveals that the digital world features in the lyrics. ‘Atrophy’ is about brain atrophy, the surreal atmosphere fits this well. The sweet (stacked) vocals are characteristic of Rick. Most tracks contain remarkable sampling, appropriate to the track. The sound is good, plus there are plenty of details and twists. These flow well; except for one small, but bothersome bug in ‘Perchance To Dream’. The alternation\/balance between (bass) guitar and the keyboard instruments is fine. The guitar playing is diverse: compelling one moment, slightly rocking a little later, then acoustic again, sometimes in several layers at once. The drumming is calm, but detailed. The flute playing occasionally merges with the music, at other times it comes more to the front. The string instruments are calm but intriguingly played. The pleasantly long instrumental pieces are partly melancholic. This makes the complexity less noticeable. ‘One Of The Many’ is an album to enjoy in all quietness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
