Het eerste nummer wat dit vijftal speelde was ‘Lay your hands on me’.
You give love a bad name’.

Bed of Roses

Er werd volop meegezongen met ‘It’s my life’ en ‘I’ll be there for you’.

Bad Medicine put down a convincing Bon Jovi tribute in Zaal Don Bosco

Bad Medicine is a Bon Jovi cover band from Italy. Josh Zighetti is not only frontman of Bad Medicine, but also of the rock band Hungryheart. And there are more band members who play in another band. So Bad Medicine’s five rockers are experienced musicians. Friday 19 April, they played at Paaspop, in Schijndel. The next day they would perform in Brussels. Due to circumstances the concert was cancelled. Fortunately, Weert has more than one location. On Saturday the 20th of April there was room in Zaal Don Bosco. When Bad Medicine entered the stage in their 80’s glam-rock outfit, their energy was already palpable. And that even though they hadn’t played a single note yet.

The first song they played was ‘Lay your hands on me‘. These rockers didn’t have to get started, the sparks flew right away, so to speak. Frontman Josh managed to get the attention right away. Not only because of his vocal skills, but also because of his charisma and his performance. He made a lot of eye contact with the visitors.
With songs like “I’ll die for you” this charming rocker chose female fans. He looked them in the eye and seemed to sing his words for her personally, so he almost completely ‘covered’ the ladies. His presentation and voice certainly looked like the real Bon Jovi. The white microphone stand was also used by Josh in his performance.
Because of his natural way of doing things it didn’t look like a play at all, no this was a dynamic performance. That was not only true for Josh, but for the whole band, they clearly enjoyed it. Drummer Steve Bucci had a fanatical look in his eyes and he was really furious. Despite his generous movement and his hard way of hitting he drummed loosely from the wrist, so the timbre of his drumming was nice and round.
A big hit that could not be missed this evening was ‘You give love a bad name’. As a cover band you have to come from all over the world to play this song powerfully and convincingly. Bad Medicine had no problem with that at all. It not only sounded good, it all looked good. Partly because of their outfit, but certainly also because of their appearance and way of moving.

Bed of Roses
Guitarist Danilo Bar and bassist Salvo Basile played wirelessly. That gave them the opportunity to walk back and forth, which they gratefully used. People were regularly impressed by Danilo’s guitar solos and Salvo’s bass grooves. Both also did the backing vocals, just like keyboard player Dave Sadok. He played the intro of the next song solo. Josh, Danilo and Salvo gave some ladies a ‘silk’ rose. Of course, this was for ‘Bed of roses‘.
Josh sang this with passion, that passion and being one with the music was noticeable in all band members. Steve adjusted his strength, so the impact of this ballad continued to exist. It goes without saying that Josh made the most (eye) contact with the visitors. But he was not the only one. Danilo and Salvo hardly had to look at their strings, their fingers seemed to go over the strings by themselves. So, they too looked into the room. Dave was sometimes ‘hidden’ behind Salvo’s back. But when he was visible from the room, one could see that he was not constantly standing with his eyes on the keys. He too was playing with a broad smile, and he enjoyed the interaction with the audience. Bad Medicine did not only interact with the audience, but also with each other. Every now and then Josh stood next to Danilo or Salvo and put an arm on their shoulder. They played a good and varied setlist. Rocking songs were interspersed with ballads like ‘Always‘. These were credibly sung by Josh, especially the female fans almost hung on his lips.

Bad Medicine
Guitarist Mike Tillemans appeared on stage. Many visitors know him by sight at least, not only because he comes from the region. But also because he was guitarist of ‘Bad Medicine Netherlands’. This band has stopped due to circumstances. Their gigs were taken over by these Italians. Mike became their manager for the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Danilo exchanged his electric for an acoustic guitar. Fans hoped that ‘Wanted dead or Alive‘ would be played. As soon as the small intro sounded it was clear that this wish would come true. This was a beautifully played and sung version. As expected these rockers, together with Mike, played the song ‘Bad Medicine’. Without an encore these rockers were absolutely not allowed to leave. There was plenty of singing along with ‘It’s my life’ and ‘I’ll be there for you’. Those who hadn’t seen ‘Bad Medicine‘ before, were convinced by one performance that these Italian rockers could do it. The cosy stage of Zaal Don Bosco was actually too small for such a dynamic performance. Just a stone’s throw away from this venue is De Bosuil, Moreover, there is the summer festival Bospop.. Hopefully we can enjoy Bad Medicine again in Weert, but on a larger stage. Because they can handle that with ease.
